We build wire harnesses for automotive, industrial, consumer, and medical device manufacturers across Europe, the US, India, and Southeast Asia. Our Shenzhen factory runs JST, Molex, Deutsch, TE, and Hirose terminal families, with IATF 16949 process available for automotive programs. MOQ starts at 100 sets for standard orders. Repeat production ships in 10–14 days; first samples in 7–10 days. Wire harness projects range from simple 2-branch battery leads up to 40+ branch instrument cluster harnesses — send a drawing or a sample and we’ll quote within 24 hours.
What Is a Wire Harness?
A wire harness is a set of wires, cables, and connectors grouped together to transmit signals or power through a vehicle, machine, or device. It usually has multiple branches going to different components — think of a car’s dashboard wiring loom, or a washing machine’s control panel harness.
The difference between a cable assembly and a wire harness is mostly about complexity. A cable assembly is usually a single-path run with connectors on each end, often for signal work like displays or antennas. A wire harness is a tree — one main trunk with multiple branches, often including fuses, relays, grommets, heat shrink, and protective conduit. In real-world use the terms get mixed, and some projects don’t fit cleanly into either bucket. We build both.

Typical Applications
Wire harness projects show up across six main sectors. Here’s where our production volume actually goes:
Automotive and EV. A lot of our wiring work goes to Chinese EV parts suppliers and Tier-2 automotive clients in Europe. Dashboard harnesses, battery module interconnects, charge port wiring, infotainment looms. IATF 16949 process when the client needs it.
Battery packs and energy storage. LiPo balance leads for drones and RC — this segment is huge in volume. Also 18650/21700 pack harnesses for portable power stations, and BMS communication wiring for grid-scale energy storage systems.
Industrial automation. Control panel wiring for PLC cabinets, servo drive harnesses, motor leads. Often UL-listed. Panel shops in Germany and the US sometimes send us their schematic and we build to their standards.
Home appliances. Smart appliance manufacturers run high volume — we build control board harnesses, display module leads, sensor wiring. Cost-sensitive but steady.
Agricultural and outdoor equipment. Tractors, sprayers, IoT weather stations, solar monitoring. These need IP67 or better, UV-resistant jackets, and sometimes specific approvals for grain-handling environments.
Medical devices. Patient monitors, bed controls, diagnostic equipment. Lower current than industrial but tighter traceability. ISO 13485 workflow applies here.
Why OEM Buyers Choose SZFRS for Wire Harness Production
Picking a wire harness supplier in China is not obvious from the outside. There are thousands of small shops. Here’s what we do differently that repeat clients tell us matters:
Harness board workflow for complex projects. For harnesses with 10+ branches we build dedicated jig boards so every unit is identical. This catches routing errors before production runs.
IATF 16949 process for automotive. Full PPAP documentation, control plan, and material certificates for OEM and Tier-1 automotive programs. Not every factory in Shenzhen can do this.
Real wire traceability. Every wire spool has a UL listing and lot code. For safety-critical programs, we track wire-to-harness relationships all the way back to the mill.
Flexibility on MOQ. Standard MOQ is 100 sets. For long-running programs we’ve run blanket orders with releases as low as 30 sets. Prototype runs from 5–10 pieces are common and don’t carry a heavy NRE.
Response time. Quote in 24 hours for projects with clear drawings. If the drawing is incomplete, we flag it in the quote — no surprise questions two weeks after you’ve committed. See our quality and certifications page for our full certification list.
Our Wire Harness Manufacturing Process
Every wire harness runs through the same eight steps, scaled to project complexity:
- Engineering review. Drawing audit, BOM verification, DFM suggestions on wire routing and branch splits.
- Material sourcing. UL-listed wire from approved mills. Connectors from authorized distribution. Every lot barcoded.
- Cutting and stripping. Automated cut-strip-tin machines for runs above 1,000 sets. Semi-automatic for complex routings.
- Terminal crimping. Certified operators, crimp height verified every 250 pieces per IPC/WHMA-A-620.
- Harness board assembly. For multi-branch work, we build a full-scale layout board with pin positions, branch lengths, and connector anchors. Every harness is laid into this board.
- Overwrap and protection. Harness tape, split loom, heat shrink, grommets, or convoluted conduit depending on the spec.
- Testing. 100% continuity check on every harness. Hi-pot on automotive and medical programs. Pull force per WHMA-A-620.
- Labeling and packaging. Per-branch labels for automotive, ESD bags where specified, full traceability paperwork for regulated industries.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between a wire harness and a cable assembly?
A cable assembly is typically a single-path run with connectors on each end — like a display cable or an antenna cable. A wire harness has multiple branches going to different components, like the wiring inside a car dashboard or a washing machine. The terms overlap, and many real-world projects sit somewhere in between. We build both.
Can you produce harnesses to IATF 16949 standards?
Yes. Our IATF 16949 process includes full PPAP documentation, control plans, and material certificates. We run this separately from our standard production so automotive programs don’t mix with consumer work. Required certificates are available on request. See our quality and certifications page for the full list.
Do you support customer-supplied wire or connectors?
Yes. Many automotive and medical clients have an approved vendor list (AVL) and supply their own components. We inspect and inventory these parts separately, with quality records noting customer-supplied items and lot numbers.
What’s your MOQ for wire harness production?
100 sets is our standard MOQ. Prototypes from 5–10 pieces are common with a modest NRE fee. For long-running programs we sometimes run blanket orders with releases as low as 30 sets per draw.
Can you label each branch or wire for automotive harnesses?
Yes. We print per-branch labels, wire marker tubes, or use printed heat shrink. For automotive service harnesses we can apply wire color codes per the OEM’s standard — DIN, JIS, or custom.
Do you test every wire harness?
Yes. 100% continuity testing on every harness is standard. Hi-pot testing is default for automotive and medical programs. Pull force is spot-checked per IPC/WHMA-A-620 sampling rules. We can build dedicated functional test fixtures for your specific product if the program volume justifies it.
What drawing formats do you accept?
PDF, DWG, STEP, IGES. A Bill of Materials with wire gauge, color, connector part number, and pin assignments is usually faster than a drawing alone. If you only have a sample and no drawing, send it and we’ll create a working drawing for your approval.
Can you ship to the EU, US, and India?
Yes — these are three of our top markets. We ship DDP, DAP, or EXW depending on your preference. For EU clients we prepare CE declarations where applicable. For US clients we handle Section 301 tariff documentation. For India we work through your preferred freight forwarder or handle air and sea freight directly.
